# Round a value to a predefined number of decimals — Calculator

Botize method — `btzcalculator.round_number` (action).

Accepts two parameters: a number (or mathematical expression) and a decimal precision, then returns the rounded number to the specified decimal precision.

This is an action: it runs as a step of a task. Several can be chained.

## Fields you set

The field's internal name, its type and the values it accepts. These fields accept `{{...}}` tags from earlier steps.

- `pattern` *(string)* — Number or Mathematical expression to round
- `rounding_mode` *(string, one of: "nearest" = Nearest (standard rounding, .5 goes up); "up" = Always up; "down" = Always down)* — Rounding mode
- `number_of_decimals` *(string)* — Number of decimals
- `mb_outputvars_switch` *(boolean)* — Customize tags

## Output variables

Data this step makes available. Reference them in later steps with the double-brace tag.

- `{{calculation_result}}` *(decimal)* — Calculation result. Rounded number.
e.g. Rounding the number 228.123 to 2 decimal places: 228.12
