# Count rows by column — Google Sheets

Botize method — `gspreadsheet.count_rows_by_column` (action).

Allows you to count the total rows in a specific column of a spreadsheet, applying optional filters such as exact matches or non-empty values.

This is an action: it runs as a step of a task. Several can be chained.

## Fields you set

The field's internal name, its type and the values it accepts. These fields accept `{{...}}` tags from earlier steps.

- `sheet_url` *(string)* — URL of your sheet document
- `sheet` *(string)* — Sheet. Sheet id (gid) chosen from the list, or the sheet name. Empty = first sheet.
- `exclude_first_row` *(boolean)*
- `by_column` *(string, one of: "A" = A; "B" = B; "C" = C; "D" = D; "E" = E; "F" = F; "G" = G; "H" = H; "I" = I; "J" = J; "K" = K; "L" = L; "M" = M; "N" = N; "O" = O; "P" = P; "Q" = Q; "R" = R; "S" = S; "T" = T; "U" = U; "V" = V; "W" = W; "X" = X; "Y" = Y; "Z" = Z)* — Filter: Column
- `filter_type` *(string, one of: "exact" = Exact; "distinct" = Distinct, default: "exact")* — Filter: Type
- `filter_value` *(string)* — Filter: Value
