API Credentials for Mail
Guide to obtaining tokens, keys, and connections.
To connect to your IMAP mailbox from Botize you need four pieces of information: the IMAP server host, port, your username (usually your email address) and your password (or an app-specific password if your provider requires it). All of them come from your email provider.
IMAP Host
-
1
Look up your email provider's IMAP server address in their help documentation. Common ones: imap.gmail.com (Gmail), outlook.office365.com (Microsoft 365), imap.mail.yahoo.com (Yahoo), imap.zoho.com (Zoho).
-
2
Paste the host into the "IMAP Host" field in the Botize connection form.
IMAP Port
-
1
The standard secure IMAP port is 993 (SSL/TLS). The Botize form already shows 993 as the default — leave it unless your provider tells you to use a different one.
IMAP Username
-
1
Your IMAP username is almost always your full email address (for example, "yourname@gmail.com").
-
2
Paste it into the "IMAP Username" field in the Botize connection form.
IMAP Password
-
1
If your provider supports normal passwords for IMAP, use your email account password.
-
2
Important: most modern providers (Gmail, Microsoft 365, Yahoo, Zoho with 2FA enabled) do NOT accept your normal password for IMAP. They require an "App password" or "App-specific password" you generate separately.
-
3
Gmail: enable 2-Step Verification, then create an App password at https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords.
-
4
Microsoft 365 / Outlook: turn on 2FA, then create an App password from your Microsoft account security page.
-
5
Yahoo: from Account Security, click "Generate app password".
-
6
Paste the password (or app password) into the "IMAP Password" field in the Botize connection form.
