API Credentials for Line
Guide to obtaining tokens, keys, and connections.
To connect to the Line API you need two pieces of information: 1) the "Channel Name" (the exact name of the channel you create in Line) and 2) the "Channel Access Token" (the long key that authorizes Botize to post in that channel). Below you’ll find step-by-step instructions to obtain both values.
Channel Name
-
1
Open your browser and go to https://account.line.biz/login. Sign in with your Line account.
-
2
If you’ve never created bots in Line, click “Create” under the “Providers” section. Enter a name to identify yourself (it can be your personal or company name) and click “Create” again.
-
3
Inside the new provider you’ll see a “Create a Message API channel” button. Click it to start creating your channel.
-
4
In the form, find the “Channel name” field. Type the name you want users to see for your channel (e.g., "Botize Deals"). Write it exactly as you want it, including capital letters and spaces.
-
5
Fill in the other fields (description, category, and sub-category). Tick the two boxes to accept the terms and click “Create” at the bottom of the form.
-
6
Done! The text you entered in “Channel name” is your "Channel Name." Save it because Botize will need it exactly as written.
Channel Access Token
-
1
With the channel created, you’ll see its control panel. In the left menu, select the “Messaging API” tab.
-
2
Optional: scan the QR code that appears to open and subscribe to your channel from the Line app.
-
3
Scroll to the bottom of the page and locate the “Channel access token” section.
-
4
Click the “Issue” button. Line will generate a very long string of text—this is your “Channel Access Token.”
-
5
Click “Copy” (or select and copy) to save it to your clipboard. Store this value in a safe place; it’s the key you’ll enter in Botize.
-
6
If you lose the token or think it has been exposed, you can come back to this same section and click “Reissue” to generate a new one.
