API Credentials for Telegram User

Guide to obtaining tokens, keys, and connections.

To connect your personal Telegram account to Botize you need an API ID and an API Hash, which you get on Telegram's website. Then Botize asks for the code Telegram sends to your app.

Get the API ID and API Hash

    Open my.telegram.org and sign in: type your phone number with the country code (for example +34612345678), press Next and type the code you get in your Telegram app.

    Click API development tools.

    If it is your first time, Telegram asks you to create an application. Fill in App title (for example 'Botize'), Short name (letters and numbers only, 5 to 32, for example 'botize') and URL https://botize.com. In Platform, scroll down to the last button, 'Other' (it may read 'Other (specify in the description)'); do not pick Android, iOS, Desktop or Web. In Description write, for example, 'Connect my Telegram account to Botize to automate tasks'. Press Create application. If you already had one, it takes you straight to its details: each account can have only one.

    Under Credentials, copy the App api_id (a number) with the copy button next to it.

    Also copy the App api_hash with its copy button. You don't need to press the eye to see it. Don't share it with anyone: whoever has it can use your app.

Connect your account in Botize

    In Botize, paste the number in API ID and the api_hash in API Hash.

    Type your phone number with the country code, no spaces or dashes (for example +34612345678).

    Press Authorize.

    Telegram sends a code to your Telegram app, in the official chat called 'Telegram' (blue logo). Open it and look at the number.

    Type the code in Enter code. If you have two-step verification on, also type your Telegram password in Two-step password; otherwise leave it empty. Press Verify.

    You will see Connected and go back to Botize with your Telegram account connected.

    Telegram will warn you about a new login: a 'Someone just got access to your messages!' alert and a 'New login' message saying the access comes from Botize, in Paris, France. That is expected: Botize's servers are in Paris. Press YES, IT'S ME. If you press 'No, it's not me', Telegram closes that session and Botize gets disconnected.
