In this guide, you will learn the steps to renew your access token for the Instagram for Business API in case it has expired.

Access https://developers.facebook.com using your Facebook account.

Once inside, click on your Instagram application, indicated with the same name you provided when you created it.

Upon doing so, you may see an alert with the message "API access has been disabled for compliance reasons" and a link with the text "Restore Access."

If this is the case, click on the "Restore Access" link.

A window will appear indicating the reason for the access deactivation.

If the reason is "Invalid Privacy Policy URL," you will need to provide the URL of the privacy policy of a website or blog that you own.

Create a new access token

In the top menu, click on "Tools" and "Graph API Explorer".

In the right panel, click on "Add a permission" and select all of the following:

• pages_show_list
• business_management
• instagram_basic
• instagram_content_publish

Once selected, it will appear as shown in the following image.

Now click on "Generate Access Token".

Click on "Continue".

Click on the information icon ("i") located on the left side of the "Access Token" section.

An informative box will be displayed.

Click on the "Open in Access Token Tool" button.

Scroll to the bottom of the new page that opens and click on the "Extend Access Token" button.

Copy the long-lived access token.

This token is valid for 2 months. After this period, you will need to generate a new token to continue using your automations with Instagram Business.

If you need a non-expiring token, you will need to submit your application for review with Facebook from the "App Review" section.

Connect your Instagram Business account with Botize

Click on the "Get Started Now" button or "Add a New Profile."

A form like the following will appear.

Enter the Access Token you received in the previous step.

If you have more than one Instagram account and you want to connect a specific one to Botize, enter the username of the account you choose in the "Instagram Account Name to Connect" field.

Click on the "Authorize" button.
