About Google Chrome

This Botize integration with Google Chrome allows you to automate actions directly in one or multiple browser tabs, even on websites that don’t provide an API.

Once installed, you can link the tabs you want to use within your automations. Botize can send jobs to different tabs independently, allowing you to automate processes across multiple accounts or services at the same time.

You can also use incognito windows to work with multiple accounts on the same platform (for example, different social media profiles) without interference.

This integration is especially useful for running repetitive tasks on specific websites, private dashboards, or tools accessible through the browser, using Chrome as the execution environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

I had an older version of the Chrome extension (1.3.x). How do I update to 1.4?
Version 1.4 is a new identity for Chrome: Chrome treats it as a new extension and it starts disconnected.
  • 1. Remove the old extension in chrome://extensions.
  • 2. Download https://botize.com/downloads/btzchrome.zip, unzip it and load the btzchrome folder with 'Load unpacked'.
  • 3. Open the extension, press 'Conectar con Botize' (Connect with Botize) and give this Chrome a name.
  • 4. That name becomes a new Chrome connection. Open each Chrome task and set its Chrome steps to that connection.
If you had connected with a pasted token and no name, paste it again under 'Avanzado — pegar un token' (Advanced — paste a token).

How do I update the Chrome extension from one 1.4 version to a newer one?
Download https://botize.com/downloads/btzchrome.zip again, replace the contents of the btzchrome folder and press the reload arrow on the extension card in chrome://extensions. A new version can ask for more permissions; Chrome tells you when it does.

Does my computer have to be on for my Chrome tasks to run?
For your own Chrome, yes: Chrome must be open and the computer awake. The extension asks Botize for work about every 5 seconds. A job that arrives while Chrome is closed is not lost: it waits and runs when Chrome comes back.

To run with the computer off, use the cloud browser: on the Chrome connection page choose 'Anonymous Chrome browser in the cloud'. It creates a connection (named 'nube' by default) and you set the step to it. It works with every Chrome method, but it has none of your sessions: it is not signed in anywhere.

Can a Chrome task use an incognito window?
Yes. It needs two things: 'Allow in Incognito' enabled for the extension in chrome://extensions, and a Tab name in the step. The incognito window has its own cookies, so it works as a second session of the same site.

Botize does not see my browser, my Chrome is not among my connections, or my Chrome task never runs. What do I check?
Check in this order:
  • 1. The extension panel must say 'Conectado' (Connected). If it shows 'Conectar con Botize' (Connect with Botize), it is not connected: connect again with the same name. If it says 'Desconectado desde Botize' (Disconnected from Botize), that Chrome was disconnected from the devices page or connected in another account: connect again with the same name.
  • 2. The account shown in the panel must be the Botize account that has the task. A browser connected to another account never receives its jobs.
  • 3. The connection of the step must be the connection with the name you gave to this Chrome. If you disconnect and connect again with another name, that makes a new connection and the task still points at the old one.
  • 4. If that Chrome is closed, suspended or asleep, the job waits; it is not lost.
  • 5. Jobs run in a tab group called 'Botize' (or 'Botize · tab name'). If that group appears, the job arrived and the problem is in the actions of the step, not in the connection.
  • 6. Press '☰ Log' in the panel to see the real error.

Chrome shows a warning that asks me to disable developer mode extensions. Is that a problem?
No. The Botize extension is not in the Chrome Web Store: Botize hosts it and you load it unpacked, so Chrome shows that warning on some startups. Close the warning; it does not uninstall anything.

Can I move or delete the folder after I install the Chrome extension?
No. Chrome loads the extension from that folder every time it starts. If you move or delete the folder, the extension stops working. Put the btzchrome folder (the one that has manifest.json) in a permanent place before you load it.

Can I rename a connected Chrome? What happens when I disconnect it?
The name you give to a Chrome is the name of its connection in Botize, and it can not be renamed. To change it, press 'Desconectar' (Disconnect) in the panel and connect again with the new name; then set the tasks that used the old name to the new connection.

Disconnecting stops the tasks and the agents for that Chrome and removes its connection, so the tasks set to it fail. If you connect again with the same name, it is the same connection and those tasks work again.

Where does a connected Chrome appear in Botize?
It is a connection of the Chrome app with the name you gave it: you see it in your connections page and in the connection selector of every Chrome step. It also appears in your devices page, and your agents connected to Botize (Claude, ChatGPT
) can use it. Botize asks for your permission the first time an agent uses each tool.

I connected Chrome some time ago by pasting an access token. Does it still work?
Yes, that connection still runs, but the connection page no longer offers that way. For a new connection use the 'Conectar con Botize' (Connect with Botize) button of the extension and give the Chrome a name.

What are the tools in the side panel of the Chrome extension?
  • 'Grabar llamadas (HAR)' (Record calls) records one tab, with the clicks and the requests the page makes and their responses, and downloads a standard .har file.
  • '● REC' and '■ STOP' record what you do on the page: press REC, do the clicks and the typing, press STOP.
  • '↓ Export' downloads the recording as recipe.json, ready for the Actions field of a Chrome step. '↑ Import' loads one back.
  • '▶ Play' replays the recording in the current tab.
  • '⊕ Read' extracts the text of the article in the current tab.
  • '☰ Log' shows what the extension has been doing.
