Connect Botize to ChatGPT

In ChatGPT, Botize is added as a custom plugin. There are two differences from other assistants worth knowing from the start: you have to turn it on in each conversation, and ChatGPT doesn't refresh the tool list on its own.

Before you start

  • A ChatGPT account. It also works with a free account (checked in September 2026). If you don't see the + button in step 2, turn on Developer mode in Settings → Security and login.
  • A Botize account. If you don't have one, create it for free.
  • About 3 minutes.

Steps

  1. Open Plugins. At chatgpt.com, click Plugins in the sidebar.

  2. Create a new plugin. Click the + button next to the search box. The form for a new plugin opens.

  3. Fill in the form:

    • Name: Botize.

    • Connection: use the server URL option, not Tunnel, and paste this into MCP server URL:

      https://webhook.botize.es/mcp

    • Authentication: OAuth. You don't need to touch the advanced settings.

  4. Accept the warning. ChatGPT warns that custom MCP servers are a risk, because OpenAI doesn't review them. Check the box to confirm you understand and create the plugin.

  5. Sign in with Botize. Botize opens: sign in if needed.

  6. Authorize access with Authorize.

  7. Choose your MCP. If you already have one, at Which MCP do you want to connect? pick yours to keep its tools and click Connect. Why it matters

  8. Done. Botize now appears among your own plugins in Plugins.

Turn it on in each conversation

In ChatGPT the plugin isn't used on its own. In each new conversation:

  1. Click the + in the message box.
  2. Choose Botize. You'll see its label in the message box.
  3. Write your request.

If you only mention it without turning it on, ChatGPT may start searching the web or suggest other plugins.

Check that it works

With Botize on, write:

List my Botize tasks.

ChatGPT may ask you to confirm before using some tools. That depends on the plugin's permission setting: by default, ChatGPT automatically approves low-risk actions, such as reading your tasks, and asks you to confirm the ones that change things, such as modifying a task.

Refresh the tool list

ChatGPT saves Botize's tool list when you connect and doesn't ask for it again by itself. You have to refresh it:

  • every time you approve a new tool for your MCP, and
  • if you've connected Botize again.

How:

  1. In the sidebar, open Plugins and find Botize among your own plugins.
  2. Open Botize's … menu and open its settings.
  3. Scroll to the end of the settings panel and click Refresh.

Removing the plugin and creating it again doesn't always clear that old copy. More details in Your assistant can't see new tools.
