Connect Botize to ChatGPT

In ChatGPT, Botize is added as a custom plugin. There are three things worth knowing from the start: Botize isn't in ChatGPT's plugin catalog yet, so you add it by hand with developer mode; you have to mention Botize in your requests for ChatGPT to use it, and ChatGPT doesn't refresh the tool list on its own.

Prefer to watch? There's a video of the whole process on YouTube (4 minutes, in Spanish).

Before you start

  • A ChatGPT account. It also works with a free account (checked in September 2026).
  • A Botize account. If you don't have one, create it for free.
  • About 3 minutes.

Steps

  1. Turn on developer mode. At chatgpt.com, click your name at the bottom left and go to Settings → Plugins → Developer mode. It takes you to the security and login settings: turn on the Developer mode switch and close the settings. ChatGPT flags it as high risk because it lets you add plugins that OpenAI hasn't reviewed.

  2. Create a new plugin. In the sidebar, click Plugins and then the + button next to the plugin search box. That button only shows up with developer mode on. The form for a new plugin opens.

  3. Fill in the form:

    • Name: Botize. The icon and the description are optional.

    • Connection: use the server URL option, not Tunnel, and paste:

      https://webhook.botize.es/mcp
    • Authentication: leave OAuth, which is already selected. You don't need to touch the advanced OAuth settings.

  4. Accept the warning and create the plugin. ChatGPT warns that custom MCP servers are a risk, because OpenAI doesn't review them. Check the box to confirm you understand and click the button to create it.

  5. Sign in with Botize. In the window to add Botize to ChatGPT, click the button to sign in with Botize. Botize opens in another tab: sign in if needed.

  6. Authorize access. Botize shows you which account you're connecting and what permission ChatGPT is asking for. Click Authorize.

  7. Choose your MCP. If you already have one, at Which MCP do you want to connect? pick yours to keep its tools and click Connect. Why it matters

  8. Done. ChatGPT confirms that Botize has been installed and opens the plugin's panel, with the URL and the connection date. If right after connecting it says there are no app actions available yet, that's fine: Botize's tools work anyway.

Check that it works

Open a new chat and write:

List my Botize tasks.

When ChatGPT uses Botize, you'll see that it called a tool above the answer.

ChatGPT may ask you to confirm before using some tools. That depends on the plugin's permission setting (Settings → Plugins → Botize): by default, ChatGPT automatically approves low-risk actions, such as reading your tasks, and asks you to confirm the ones that change things, such as modifying a task.

Mention Botize in your requests

You don't need to turn the plugin on in each chat, but you do need to make it clear to ChatGPT that you mean Botize. If you ask about your tasks in a new chat without mentioning Botize, it usually won't understand you: it answers on its own or starts searching the web.

There are two ways to do it, especially when you start a new chat:

  • Mention it in your request. Instead of "Pause my Monday task", write "Pause my Monday task in Botize". Or "Use the Botize plugin to check why my task failed".
  • Pick it before writing. Type @Botize in the message box and choose Botize from the plugins in the list, or click the + in the message box and choose Botize. If the list is long, type Botize to find it. You'll see the Botize label in the message box; then write your request.

If ChatGPT answers without calling Botize —you won't see that it called a tool above the answer— it may be answering from memory, with what you told it in earlier chats. Pick it with @Botize or with the + and ask again: then it does use it.

If Botize doesn't show up with @ or with the +, you're probably in a chat that was already open before you connected it. Start a new chat from the sidebar and try again.

Refresh the tool list

ChatGPT saves Botize's tool list when you connect and doesn't ask for it again by itself. You have to refresh it:

  • every time you approve a new tool for your MCP, and
  • if you've connected Botize again.

How:

  1. Click your name at the bottom left and go to Settings → Plugins.
  2. Open Botize.
  3. In the information section, click Refresh.

It's the same panel that opens when you finish connecting.

Removing the plugin and creating it again doesn't always clear that old copy. More details in Your assistant can't see new tools.
